I am a dreamer and I always want to do so many things and I feel like there is not enough time in the day to do everything I want to do. I know it is just making things a priority if I really want something! So I am back and I am hoping this time I can keep this going weekly. I think a weekly post will be do able now. I am no longer working. I quit, I left my desk job for my boys. I get to stay at home with them while my hubby works! Jack and Atticus are a handful and Grandma was having a hard time keeping up with both of them. Atticus is getting bigger and he is hard for Grandma to move on her own. So here I am, no longer working a day job. I have the best new job! The boys are now on summer break and will be starting Kindergarten in the fall!! It is crazy to think that they are now 5! We have been busy with finishing school, therapy and adjusting to our new normal. Jorell got a new job and a new crazy schedule but it is great, he is happy in his new job and it gave us the benefits we needed for me to quit my job. I am going to go mobile with this again and get it on my phone! I swear I don't know how we did anything before smart phones. I mean I know how we did but still, life seems so much easier having everything in your hand. I will try to go back in our photos and make a few posts out of things we have already done. Today was filled with making Father's Day cards with some great stamps and stickers from Sweet Stamp Shop. I love Nicole and all of her wonderful products. Jack loved coloring and sticking stickers on them. Thanks for joining us on this crazy adventure!

Hello, I know it has again been a long time since I have posted and I am hoping to figure out how to make this a more regular thing but so far it has not worked out. I am staying so busy with the boys, life and family that this is not on my list. I will figure it out. I would love love to have a successful blog full of fun things for people to read. I love all of the blogs I read and all of the fun things I have learned about through them. I know that I could get there someday and I am going to keep striving for it. I will not give up on doing something I love so much. Life has a way of keeping us going in the right direction. I will write again soon and have some fun photos to add too!
It has been awhile since I have posted. With the holidays comes lots of cleaning and prepping and sicknesses. I think all of us have had a cold at least twice since Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time with our family and friends. Celebrating and enjoying each others company. We read lots of books, watched lots of movies, ate way too much food and had a great time doing it all. The boys were done with opening presents after the first 5 on Christmas Eve at Grandma's house with Great Nana and their cousin Chloe. After that they did not care to open up any more. They are 2 so it is expected. They both have sensory processing issues and it was a lot for them to deal with. Too many people, too many noises and too much movement all at once for them. They were very glad for our last celebration to be over and for everyone to go home so they could just be in their spaces and not have anyone but each other and mommy and daddy. We enjoyed a few quiet nights. The boys got a lot of new trains, they love Thomas & Friends and Chuggington. They also got a few amazing educational toys that they really enjoy playing with too! The boys had a two week break from therapies and then added a week due to a really bad cold which they gave to mommy which went into a full blown sinus infection! It was not fun and I had to go into the doctor and get some antibiotics. Not fun at all!! But I'm finally getting better. Well I will work on another post soon! We are busy cleaning and organizing all of our fun new toys. I found this great little tree on Pinterest!! http://anightowlblog.com/2014/11/abc-kids-christmas-tree.html/#_a5y_p=2753839 This cute little blog, A Night Owl Blog!! Has a great little post about their ABC Tree. I wanted to recreate something similar this year for the boys!! They are two and love their alphabet! Mommy is crazy over rainbow colors right now so I thought perfect fit!! I was looking online for a set of Alphabet ornaments but not finding a whole set. Lots of sites sell single letters but at $3+ each the whole alphabet would be way more than I want to spend. Then, I thought about painting wood letters but they are even over $1 each for a decent size. So I put my little fingers to work and had a great thought!!! What could be better!?! They are safe for the boys, they are rainbow colored and cost just under $5!! All that is needed besides the letters is an embroidery needle and thread. I cut each string at 12 inches. Then threaded them through each letter! Making sure to keep the thread about 1/4 to 1/2 inch down from the edge of the letter. And tada!! We have a set of really cute kid friendly ornaments for our tree this year!! The set also comes with numbers 0-9. I am going to use those as well for a mini tree for the boys to play with and decorate!! Hope you enjoyed my little DIY!! I will post tree photos as soon as I dig it out and get it set up!
Last weekend the hubby wanted soup. So soup it was! I'm not one for recipes I rarely use them. I sometimes use them as a springboard for what I want. We had chicken noodle soup and it turned out wonderfully! Ingredients: 6 cups water 2 cups chicken stock 1 bag egg noodles or noodles of your choice 3 large carrots 4 medium celery sticks 1/2 medium onion 2 tablespoons garlic Olive oil 1 pound chicken tenders/breast Seasoning to your liking Start by prepping chicken coating a little heavy in seasonings of your choice and popping them into the oven. I love tenders because they cook quickly. It took about 6 minutes for them to be done. Then start your pot with olive oil and your garlic. Adding each veggie as they swear down. I did onions then carrots and finished with the celery. Once the veggies sweat down and the onions were turning transparent I added the chicken stock. Then got out the chicken and cut it up. Then I tossed it into the pot with the water and then added the egg noodles. Once it was all added I turned it up and let it boil until the noodles were ready. Checked the flavors and added a bit more season. Finished letting it boil. So good!! Made my night! Finished it up with an episode of old school Batman!! Hope you enjoy!
The boys had a great time this year trick or treating. They got to do it twice! Once at school and then again around a few neighborhoods as we visited Grandparents and Great Grandparents. At school Jack was the Ewok and Atticus was R2D2. When we went out later they switched! They made out like bandits!! Filling their bags up!! Tonight they each enjoyed a sucker from their loot. Seriously we are so proud with how well they did! It took a few houses and a group of kids to follow around and they had a great time, laughing, running around and knocking on doors! Jack was so helpful getting treats for his brother and putting them in his bag when he couldn't get up on the porches!! Let's just say that he picked a lot of suckers if they had them! We can't wait till next year!! It's so much fun watching them grow and learn and really start to understand things like holidays! Jack can't wait for more pumpkins and apples!! This week flew by. I am not sure where it went. I am not sure where this last month went. We welcomed fall and here it is almost November! Being back at work after a week off it always feels a bit crazy and rushed. Things didn't go well while I was gone if you ask anyone in the office. I always get a warm welcome when I get back. It is nice to know I'm needed. While it was nice to have a break from my new position and teaching others my old position it was a tiring week hanging out with my boys all day by myself. They are busy boys and like to go go go! I feel like I accomplished nothing while on vacation because I really didn't get anything done but I have two happy and healthy boys. That was my biggest accomplishment of my week off! It was nice to be there for their whole therapy sessions and get to talk to the teachers/therapists. We have lots of new things to work on with the boys and things coming up soon! I took Jack in for x-rays of his hips and legs. He has always preferred one side over the other and when we last really measured his length the nurse and I noticed a difference in length on each leg. Just getting it checked before it becomes a bigger problem. He did pretty well during his x-rays. So cute in the shirt they gave him since they had no little guy ones available. This time of change is great. I am not ready for the dreaded white stuff to fall but am enjoying the colors of fall and the crisp air. Oh...I did while I was off make enchiladas for the first time and they turned out yummy! So much so my hubby asked me to make them again!
Soaking up all fall has to offer, apples, pears, pumpkins and leaves. We've visited local farms and fields. Picked our pumpkins with my little guys and eaten a bushel of apples! I love the colors and the cooler weather. Sweatshirts , boots, jeans and snuggling up. The rain has been refreshing but I was so glad to finally see the sun again today. The fall sunsets are my favorite. This last week I was off on vacation. It was nice to be off with my boys. We did many things together and they wore me out!! We went to the park, shopping, out to eat, ran errands and even to the library. The visit to the park was fun but taxing! We looked at many different colored leaves and flowers, discovered the fish in the pond and the squirrels eating chestnuts and even played on the park toys. We shed some tears on that trip but all in all it was totally worth it. I'm hoping as the boys get older they will enjoy things like that more. They love learning and I hope we can find more new ways to learn new things! We finally decorated our pumpkins this week too! It was lots of fun. Jack discovered that googly eyes are even better on his trains than they are on our pumpkins and has been playing with the extras since we did our pumpkins! Needless to say mommy has had a hard time keeping they eyes on our pumpkins! We had some family fun with the leftover pumpkin decorations! It's been a crazy week and the house has seen much better days but it's full of love and my little family!! It really doesn't get any better than that! When I was pregnant we started reading to the boys when they were barely the size of a muffin. We bought all kinds of books and we keep buying more books! We love reading and shared that love with our boys. Jackson has been reading since he was 18 months old. Atticus knows words but it's harder to tell because he's not verbal. They both love story time and love to bring us books to read! Today like many weekends over this summer we headed to our local library! Jack asks to go all the time because we drive by it many times during the week! The boys love to play with the blocks and the computers while we are here! Since mommy has time off next week we picked up a lot of books and a few movies!! I hope this is an activity we can share as a family for years to come! It's just so much fun to explore and journey into books! Well, it's off to enjoy lunch and the park! I thought I would introduce each of us. My name is Kathie. I love so many things in life, crafting, fall, my family, cooking, DIY, art and stars. I could list more but I'm sure you'll learn more with my posts. Before my boys were born I used to craft a lot. I made cute hair things and a few other crafts. I did craft fairs and loved it!! Now that the boys are here my days are too busy with them. I still sneak away on occasion to my craft space and heat up that hot glue gun! This is me with towel dried hair and nothing fancy going on. I'm learning to love the new me. The mommy me. I am currently struggling with my weight which has gotten out of hand but I'm trying really hard to eat better. My boys are my daily work out getting them ready, driving them from here to there until I head to work. My heart is like my days very full!! My boys are 2.5 years today!! It is so exciting!! Jackson and Atticus are amazing busy boys. Let's start with Jack! He is a super smart little boy full of energy!! He loves to read, sing, play drums, dance and he loves everything Thomas the Train. He is a very silly boy. He loves his mama whole bunches! He loves to eat fruits and veggies more than anything else! Tomatoes are his very favorite. He ate every tomato we got out of our little garden this year! Atticus is an amazingly strong boy! He has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy but we never let that define him! He loves to count, the alphabet, colors and Super Why. He wants to do everything his brother does and strives for it. Being unable to sit up, crawl or walk on his own he has still managed to figure out how to get around the living room to all his toys. He is non-verbal but that hasn't stopped him from getting his opinion heard! Things are progressing and every day is a blessing with my little boy! Last but certainly not least, my rock, my husband Jorell. He is the most amazing daddy! Really I can't say enough about how much he means to me, to us! He works long hours and strives for nothing but the best for us. He is a wonderful man and amazing friend. He loves music and plays drums. So there we are! With us always doing something I know I will share many of our adventures with you. |
